Joan Touzet commented on COUCHDB-2296:
--------------------------------------

Thanks for the report.

As far as I can tell, base64.js is used in the old JavaScript test library only.

CouchDB 2.0 will remove futon entirely and replace it with Fauxton, which does not include
this code - JS tests are run from the command line and I don't believe require base64.js any
longer.

I'll ask a Fauxton developer to confirm before closing this ticket.

> Hello,
> I'm writing in regards to Debian Bug [#758558|https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=758558].
It seems that the file share/www/script/base64.js is licensed under terms that are vague
enough to perhaps be unenforceable. The license matches no known open source license, and
though the authors intent is clear to open source it to some extent, the question is with
what restrictions. Defining it as "free" is not enough to meet the DFSG requirements in my
mind, and I wanted to raise it to your attention in the case that it doesn't match yours either.
