[~rnewson] the link api is used to link a page to other resources. Where the Host meta "/.hostmeta"
is used to discover the links of a node. It is generally associated with the webfinger rfc:
https://code.google.com/p/webfinger/ but not only.

Having th ssupport of the HOST meta rfc would be quite convenient anyway even if it doesn't
solved all the issue. I could then provide a couchdb uri in  a profile...
