About side effect from COUCHDB-1953? I'm not sure that this is related
(but it could introduce accidental "fix" since attachments replication
becomes faster) since for now I see that this issue is strongly
depended from OS and Erlang version.

As for Andy, I have not MacOSX to run tests there.
