Subject [jira] [Commented] (COUCHDB-1743) Make the view server & protocol faster
Date Fri, 03 May 2013 12:50:15 GMT

Dave Cottlehuber commented on COUCHDB-1743:

[~ioquatix] The view server protocol & performance is critical to couchdb. While I'm sure
a new approach will deliver some improvements, we need to be sure the biggest fish are being
optimised first. If you're still interested in doing a GSoC project on this, you might consider
splitting up into a couple of phases, "measure first" and "do stuff" in your project. That's
not to say that what you've proposed isn't possible, but it might be possible to achieve more
substantial improvements before changing the protocol -- or it might be that this is the best
improvement after all -- I trust that clarifies things. Thanks!
