Subject [jira] [Commented] (COUCHDB-1775) Lower I/O priority of compaction
Date Wed, 24 Apr 2013 15:31:16 GMT

ASF subversion and git services commented on COUCHDB-1775:

Commit 1d1cd9ad097fbe3dd0977857fb3c08de23d8f4e0 in branch refs/heads/1775-feature-io-regulator
from [~rnewson]
[;h=1d1cd9a ]

Deprioritize compaction I/O

When there are compaction vs non-compaction I/O requests, service the
non-compaction requests with higher probability.

Note: For demonstration purposes at the moment, the code is likely too
slow for production use.

> Running compaction can seriously impact performance of other concurrent tasks. Instead
of using a scheduler to move compaction to idle times, instead run compaction I/O at a lower
priority somehow.
