Sam Bisbee commented on COUCHDB-1296:
-------------------------------------

@Jan, ah, gotcha. That's much closer but still not what I'm asking for. :)

I want /_db_updates to tell me when a database is created or deleted. Something like this:

{ "db": "database-name", "seq": 12 }
{ "db": "database-name", "deleted": true, "seq": 13 }

There is more that I want to do than just go and poll a database's /_changes feed. For example,
I might want to go and create another database, enforce a naming scheme, make a request to
another non-CouchDB resource, etc.

Cheers.

> It would be great to have a _changes style feed for when databases get created and deleted.
Currently if you want to watch the _changes feed or start replication jobs for certain types
of databases (say they're name spaced) you have to get /_all_dbs and then poll it to check
for changes, requiring a full array scan.
> This feed would allow me to hit /_all_dbs once and then get updates without hitting /_all_dbs
every second and scanning a potentially large array.
> Cheers.
