Peter Lemenkov commented on COUCHDB-734:
----------------------------------------

Hello Martin!
I just finished preliminary porting of 0.11.2 to RHEL 5, so if you're still interested then
you may grab RPM from this location:

http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=2416032

The package does pass its self-tests but no other testing was performed by me. Feel free to
contact me directly for any questions related to this package (installation, patches, building
and so on).

> curl 7.18 dependency blocks build on RHEL/CentOS 5.x
> ----------------------------------------------------

> Key: COUCHDB-734
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/COUCHDB-734
> Project: CouchDB
> Issue Type: Bug
> Components: JavaScript View Server
> Affects Versions: 0.11
> Environment: RHEL 5.5 & derivatives
> Reporter: Martin Foster
>
> 0.11.0 uses curl_easy_setopt() functions that are only present in curl > 7.18
> backporting curl 7.18 is a major problem for RHEL 5 & derivative distributions who
have 7.15
> the problem is with the two callbacks, used by couchdb/priv/couch_js/httpd.c
> CURLOPT_SEEKFUNCTION & CURLOPT_SEEKDATA
> my knowledge of curl's API is near-zero, but I believe a 7.15 compatible implementation
is possible. If possible it would be great to maintain compatibility with curl 7.15 until
RHEL6 becomes generally available.
