Hey there!

I call that the javascript - trap :-)

I think it would be worthwhile, especially in the long run, to cover
the non-javascript case, and
in fact offer the functionality through a parameter in the URL,
"&sidebar=hidden" or similar. Then one can bookmark those URL's, pass
them along to other people, applications etc.
