Feel free to start by evaluating what and where would need to be changed. All groundwork already
taken care of makes it easier for someone to pick this issue and create a PR (or multiple
PRs, as I suspect this to be spread about over multiple repos) that implements this.

My impression in general is that from Cordova side there is no real need to tackle this right
now.
