I can't reproduce this on the Google Pixel phone.  Is it possible that this issue is confined to the Pixel C? Could this be a memory constraint, since there's clear garbage collection happening in this stack trace?  That's what it looks like and if it's an upstream bug, there's literally nothing that we can do about this.
