It's quite possible that your framework is adding the bar. A lot of them do in order to avoid
running up under the status bar by default. There may be a setting in your framework that
turns that feature off, or there may be some CSS you can change.

It's also possible that you're just not seeing the status bar. If the text is white and the
background is also white, you wouldn't see the status bar's text.
