I second this. This is happening to me even if I am trying to write files to the cacheDirectory.
It seems like no matter what I do, the app will ask the user for permissions, implying that
I'm opening up and looking at their files, rather then just caching a few images for a better
experience.

>             Project: Apache Cordova
>          Issue Type: Bug
>          Components: Plugin File
>    Affects Versions: 5.4.1
>         Environment: Android 6.0, cordova-cli 5.4.1, cordova-plugin-file 4.1.0, cordova-android
5.0.0

> Hi guys is there any sense in this code in FileUtils.java:
> {code}
> if(dirname.contains(cordova.getActivity().getPackageName()) ||
>                             hasReadPermission()) {
>     ....
> }
> {code}
> dirname is always look like 'cdvfile://localhost...' this is why it never contains package
name. So marshmallow will always request permissions to write to the external storage.
> I'm trying to write to the cordova.file.dataDirectory folder.
