Subject [jira] [Updated] (CB-8320) Support using cordova with standard Android projects
Date Mon, 02 Mar 2015 22:31:05 GMT

Joe Bowser updated CB-8320:
      Assignee: Joe Bowser
    Issue Type: New Feature (was: Bug)
       Summary: Support using cordova with standard Android projects (was: Cordova Plugin
Add Doesn't Work With Newer Android Project Structure)

This is a feature request, not a bug. Currently Cordova is setup to work with legacy Android
project structures, since the primary use case of Cordova is to be used with the CLI and not
have the application developer actually see this structure. Right now, there's a problem
with the use case of embedding cordova such that you can't get Gradle to work properly with
the generated structure that Android Studio creates.

The basic idea is
> {code}
> /platforms/android
>   /build.gradle
>   /settings.gradle
>   /etc...
>   /cordova
>   /CordovaLib
>     /build.gradle
>     /src
>       /main
>         /assets
>         /res
>         /java
>           /...
> {code}
> When you try to run {{cordova plugin add ...}}, it assumes you have the assets, res,
and src at the root of the Android directory. Is there any way to change this expectation,
since the newer projects are kind of expected to be this way? I acknowledge that the Android
cmd line tool doesn't do this yet, but you can't expect Google to keep up with their own tools.
