Subject [jira] [Created] (CB-8220) app.suspendApp()
Date Thu, 25 Dec 2014 14:31:13 GMT
Johannes Ewald created CB-8220:
----------------------------------

             Summary: app.suspendApp()
                 Key: CB-8220
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CB-8220
             Project: Apache Cordova
          Issue Type: New Feature
          Components: CordovaJS, CordovaLib
            Reporter: Johannes Ewald
            Priority: Minor

I wonder if you guys are interested in a suspendApp()-method. In contrast to exitApp() it
would close the app, but not terminate it. Similar to how the back button works on Android.

While this feature is probably not useful on iOS (since there is no back button and apps should
not close themselves according to Apple's guidelines) it is necessary on Android to suspend
the app after the end of the browser history has been reached.

There is currently a plugin for Android to achieve this (https://github.com/Lamerchun/org.android.tools.suspend)
but this should probably be part of the core lib as an alternative to exitApp().
