If you want to look at a sample client, look at

All requests are handled by continuum-xml-rpc module in 
http://svn.apache.org/viewcvs.cgi/maven/continuum/branches/continuum-1.0.x/continuum-xmlrpc/src/main/java/org/apache/maven/continuum/xmlrpc/DefaultContinuumXmlRpc.java?rev=372782&view=markup
