Check out the following projects:

Singa <https://singa.incubator.apache.org/> (this would be very good
because it is pretty cutting edge and is in incubation)
Mahout <http://mahout.apache.org/> (especially the Samsara portion)
Spark <http://spark.apache.org/mllib/> (especially the MLLib sub-project)
Madlib <http://madlib.incubator.apache.org/>

Incubator projects may be particularly good for you since they will tend to
be much more welcoming to newcomers because they are in growth phase
instead of maintenance mode.
