We already have an example that uses the Rhino co-bundled in JDK 1.6,
here is an example (a test document -- long, possibly fragmented URL
below):

  http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/commons/proper/scxml/branches/J6/src/test/java/org/apache/commons/scxml/env/javascript/example-01.xml

That came about via:

Build this branch to try it out yourself:

  http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/commons/proper/scxml/branches/J6/

Beyond JavaScript, it should be possible to use any of these
expression languages via JDK 1.6 in a similar fashion:
