I think that would cause problems for a lot of people that still develop
using Java 1.4 unless there were just different versions of the library for
different versions of java.

Unfortunately many companies in the corporate world use older Application
Servers (even for new projects).  I think it is necessary at this time to
have a version of the library that isn't dependant upon Java 1.5.

Is there any plans to move to java.util.Collection classes?
Specifically, I'd love to see us move away from the FTPFile [] type
things in favor of Collection<FTPFile>.
