That's one of the greatest strengths of jelly xml pipeline...
<x:parse var="blop">
	<!-- output some XML -->
	<a x="b"><b/></a>
   </x:parse>
${blop.toString()}

On blop you can now use XPath or some programmatic access, it'll be a 
dom4j-document (e.g. ${blop.getRootElement().getAttributeValue('x')} )
