Yes, we're explicitly killing the resultSets and
statements as well.  Previously we were using
Jdbc2PoolDataSource but that's been removed.
That seemed to work just fine.
The SharedPool, however, leaves everything idle and
never cleans up after itself, thus causing the mysql
dB to reach it's ceiling, which BTW, we set to
ten-thousand, and still are having trouble.

Are you closing all the result sets and statements
that you use before
closing the connection?
