Thanks Simon!  I used your example from 
jakarta-commons/digester/src/examples/api/catalog/CatalogDigester.java where 
you use the ExtendedBaseRules(), works like a charm.

When the newest release comes out, I'll convert over to the 
NestedPropertiesRule.
