Apparently it is not. The strict mode value set at the HttpClient level appears
to always overwrite that at the HttpMethod level, rendering it pointless.
I'll look into this problem.

Anyways, the strict mode configuration in its present form is crap and has
already been deprecated in the CVS HEAD. In 2.1 version there will be a much
more flexible, fine-grained control over HTTP protocol strictness. 

I am glad you got it working now
