Subject RE: DBCP options

Hi Dave,

I just worked through this so I'll post a few links. The code is in CVS
which has a browser that works great look here:

[To maintainer: The Source (Browse) link on the project page
( points to commons-pool. Minor
but initially confusing.]

I would recommend using the Jdbc2PoolDataSource which is in common-dbcp
after version 1.0. The API page for that package
dbc2pool/package-summary.html is very helpful. If you want other help
let me know I got something to work that is very similar to your
situation for Oracle8i.

[To maintainer: The API Documentation link in the sidebar works but the
one in the main body does not.]

BTW the latest binary version I could find was in the Struts1.1rc1
binary download. The were some differences between the documentation
and the version 1.0 binary download that is available on the main
project page.

Hope this helps,

Ok, feel free to laugh at my expense for that question. Let me describe
what I'm doing.

I want to use DBCP ... duh. However, I don't want to use JOCL, or
rather, don't know how and don't know if it's appropriate for what I'm
trying to do.

I have a class, ConnectionManager, with a getConnection() static method,
that uses a properties file that I have created. I'm referencing this
method all over my business classes, and don't want to recode these
classes. So, I need to manually create the pool and initialize
max/min/validate query ... but don't see any good documentation on this.
I looked at the examples, which are minimal and don't even mess with
max/min/validate query. I see JOCL in source repository, but don't see
any docs.

Do I need to say more? I can post my code, but it's pretty much
straight out of the examples.
