Subject RE: HTTP Client Release 2.0 Alpha 1 Vs Nightly build
Date Wed, 18 Dec 2002 23:17:18 GMT
I'd strongly suggest using the nightly releases for now and then when Alpha
2 comes out in the next week or so stick with that until the next major drop
(unless you like playing with the nightly CVS of course). There have been
some significant API changes since Alpha 1 and so you are much better off
staying current so that in the future you can update much more easily.

Keep an eye out for one final API addition in the next few days that will
simplify things a lot by allowing you to do something like (off the top of
my head and untested):

HttpClient client = new HttpClient();
GetMethod get = new GetMethod("http://www.ephox.com/");
int result = client.executeMethod(get);
// deal with the response

instead of dealing with the HostConfiguration stuff that's currently in use.
The patch for that is just getting some finishing touches and will then be
committed (from my reading of the developer list anyway).

Subject: HTTP Client Release 2.0 Alpha 1 Vs Nightly build

Hi
 I'm planning to use HTTPClient for an application that goes in production
at the end of January. Am I better of using the 2.0 Alpha 1 release or the
nightly builds? What are the new features in the next release? Any help is
greatly appreciated.
Thanks
-Prakash
