Subject [jira] [Commented] (TEXT-77) Add code to check if a given string is a palindrome
Date Sun, 16 Apr 2017 21:46:41 GMT

Bruno P. Kinoshita commented on TEXT-77:

It could be used for [text compression|].
However, I suspect it would have to be implemented as the [longest common sequence|]
similarity that we have (i.e. for any given substring, find all its possible palindrome values
in the string).

Palindromes and longest common subsequence have use cases in bioinformatics; though I don't
intend to quickly implement anything (which I agree would be pretty trivial).

Instead will read a few papers to confirm that it would be useful for other components in
ASF (in mind I have only [Taverna|]
so far) as well as external projects. Happy to close and archive the issue later if not helpful
to any other projects.
