Matthias Stevens updated COMPRESS-263:
--------------------------------------

    Attachment: COMPRESS-263_DeflateSupport.patch

Implements DEFLATE compressor and decompressor. Uses java.util.zip.
Also includes a JUnit test case to test the new functionality.

> GZIP is not a compression algorithm "as such". It in fact uses the DEFLATE algorithm
but adds a header of minimum 10 bytes and a footer of 8 bytes.
> Find out more here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gzip#File_format
> I have no problem with the current GZIP support, but it would be nice if CommonsCompress
would also have compression and decompression support for "raw" DEFLATE streams.
> Like GZIP itself this can be implemented very easily using the standard java.util.zip
package.
> Have a look at java.util.zip.Deflater and java.util.zip.Inflater.
