Subject [jira] [Commented] (VFS-224) Cannot use FTP with the IFS on the OS/400 ( AS/400 / iSeries / systemI )
Date Sun, 18 May 2014 00:33:14 GMT

Bernd Eckenfels commented on VFS-224:

maybe one option would be to have a "sent command on login" fsoption? The cd could also be
some kind of option, cause in some situations you want a cd, in some you want relative file
names (to get the users cwd) and in some cases you want the local path of the url be the absolute
file name. Somethign like|relativ|cdinto could fix the problem with
the relative names (and allow the FTP server to switch to IFS).

> When using VFS to FTP files to/from the OS/400 FTP server, the system defaults to NAMEFMT
=0, which means "system naming." This restricts uploads/downloads to the QSYS filesystem.
I need to switch to NAMEFMT=1, which means IFS naming. This allows uploads/downloads to
all file systems on the server, which includes the IFS. There are several ways to switch
NAMEFMT. First is to "CD /some/dir/on/ifs" The second way is to issue the command:
> Currently, I cannot upload/download to the IFS on the OS/400, making the FTP part of
VFS unusable.
