disagree with you on making it a byte[] implementation.  First, there are already several
byte[] based implementations out there and second, I would be unable to use this is my professional
development.  I need to be able to control the amount of memory that is being used by any
one process/thread and cannot afford to just buffer the entire uncompressed stream into memory.
 One large file may sink me.
