Mark Thomas resolved DBCP-261.
------------------------------

    Resolution: Won't Fix

The performance issues of Pool have been addressed as much as they can without API changes
in Pool 1.x and 2.x is a complete re-write (with API changes).

The refactoring necessary to allow any Pool implementation to be used in BasicDataSource is
very invasive and unlikely to happen (the inactivity on this issue for over 5 years demonstrating
that point).

Since performance of Pool was the real issue here, I'd prefer to deal with that and I believe
it has been dealt with in Pool 2. If further performance issues arise, we'll deal with them
then.
