Hi Luke,

serialization support for certain classes has been removed in the 3.0 release as there was
uncertainty in the community how to provide proper long-term support for such a feature.

Following this issue, the discussion on this topic started again on the mailinglist, see http://markmail.org/message/26zmab5xo2rr4eap?q=serialization+again+list:org%2Eapache%2Ecommons%2Edev/
to follow the discussion.

> org.apache.commons.math.optimization.RealPointValuePair is Serializable. I updated some
old code to use apache.commons.math3 but now get "java.io.NotSerializableException: org.apache.commons.math3.optimization.PointValuePair"
when I attempt to save the results of an optimization problem.
