Sebb commented on NET-333:
--------------------------

IMAP is definitely more complicated than POP3 ...

For example, "* OK" does not indicate the end of a response, apart from initial connection
where it is used for the greeting.

RFC 3501 section 8 has the following example:

{noformat}
S:   * OK IMAP4rev1 Service Ready
C:   a001 login mrc secret
S:   a001 OK LOGIN completed
C:   a002 select inbox
S:   * 18 EXISTS
S:   * FLAGS (\Answered \Flagged \Deleted \Seen \Draft)
S:   * 2 RECENT
S: * OK [UNSEEN 17] Message 17 is the first unseen message
S:   * OK [UIDVALIDITY 3857529045] UIDs valid
S:   a002 OK [READ-WRITE] SELECT completed
{noformat}

Note that there are 2 "* OK" responses before the "a002 OK".

It may be sufficient to scan for "tag status" instead.
Might be best to add the reply status checking etc. to the IMAPReply class.
