Subject [jira] Commented: (MATH-394) Duplicate code
Date Wed, 18 Aug 2010 12:38:17 GMT

Gilles commented on MATH-394:
-----------------------------

In the "univariate" version of the the "MultiStart..." optimization, the randomization is
on the bounds of the search interval while in the "multivariate" case, it is on the starting
point. Why this difference in behaviour?

> The following files (in package "optimization") contain a lot of duplicated code:
> * MultiStartDifferentiableMultivariateRealOptimizer.java
> * MultiStartDifferentiableMultivariateVectorialOptimizer.java
> * MultiStartMultivariateRealOptimizer.java
> * MultiStartUnivariateRealOptimizer.java
> Maybe some refactoring similar to what was done for [MATH-389|https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/MATH-389]
is called for.
