I am -1 to changing the class name. Almost all open source projects have a "StringUtils" class:
Apache [lang], Antlr, HtmlUnit, wsdl4j, MySQL JDBC driver, Groovy, Plexus, Apache Axis, Apache
CXF, Ant, Spring, etc. These are the one on just one of my project's class path.
