Subject [jira] Commented: (LANG-370) Document thread safety of classes
Date Wed, 24 Feb 2010 16:28:27 GMT

Sebb commented on LANG-370:
---------------------------

Unfortunately it can be difficult to ensure thread-safety; it's much safer to assume a class
is not thread-safe than the other way round.
A prime example of this is SimpleDateTime, which was not originally documented as being thread-unsafe.

But I do agree that Lang classes should aim for thread safety.
I just don't think it's safe to assume it by default.

> Few if any of the LANG classes state whether they are intended to be thread-safe or not.
> As a library, such documentation is essential IMO.
