I don't see why you need to call the ready() method, especially since readLine() may block
regardless of what ready() says. Why not the following?

String testString = reader.readLine();
while (testString != null) {
    processLine(testString);
    testString = reader.readLine();
}
{code}

It would be nice to support non-blocking reads from compressed streams, but that's more of
a new feature than a bug.
