Subject [jira] Commented: (LANG-454) Add getCharArray() to CharRange
Date Thu, 07 Aug 2008 15:09:44 GMT

Kenny MacLeod commented on LANG-454:
------------------------------------

Sure. I have a JSP which wants to render the letters a-z. I want to use a c:forEach iteration
to render each letter. c:forEach needs a collection or an array. CharRange is a nice way
of representing the a-z range, but has no way of represrnting itself as an array or collection.

Given that the contents of CharRange can be naturally represented as a collection, it seems
like a logical thing to add.

> Add getCharArray()  to CharRange

> org.apache.commons.lang.CharRange would be a lot more useful if it had a means to obtain
the characters in the range as a char array.
> i.e.
> new CharRange('a',''d').toCharArray() == new char[] { 'a', 'b', 'c', 'd' }
