Subject [jira] Commented: (IO-135) Add convenience deleteQuietly to FileUtils
Date Sun, 06 Jan 2008 01:18:34 GMT

Henri Yandell commented on IO-135:
----------------------------------

Looking into how to actually do IO-118; it would also require a boolean return from deleteDirectory.

We could add private _deleteDirectory and _forceDelete methods that return boolean and then
allow this deleteQuietly to return boolean; or we could add the patch as is and change all
in 2.0.

I'm tempted by the latter - let's just apply as is.

> It is occasionally useful to delete a file or directory and not care whether that call
succeeds or not. I'm not quite sure what others do when deleting a file or directory fails
but most often the case is to simply log the event and move on.
> The attached patch includes a new method deleteQuietly() and supporting test cases
