Oh, yeah.  Well, after bringing the commits over via cherry-pick, the files could be edited
to fix the package name and then committed, and then optionally interactive-rebased to squash
the commits together.  But the above is equivalent to your patch strategy.  I do highly
recommend interactive rebasing as a tool to keep in mind, even if you don't employ it in this
use case.  http://ProGit.org/book is a great, easy to read resource.
