Why? In this case it is a judgement call that depends on how quickly votes are cast and what those votes are. My intention is to get this release out as quickly as I can because of my mistake with the security vulnerability. That said, I still want to allow folks a chance to test it and object if they find an issue. As of this moment, we have the votes necessary for a release and I'm confident that the board wouldn't see any procedural difficulty if I closed the vote now. I'm currently debating whether to close the vote in the next few hours and release tonight my time or to wait until the morning. Given that no-one is jumping up and down demanding that we release this now (and they could always grab the RC if they were really desperate on the understanding that it is not, as I type this, an official release) I am leaning towards closing the vote tomorrow morning my time. On the other hand, if there is a flurry of +1 votes in the next 30 mins I will probably change my mind.
