I have been working primarily on Log4j 2 for a while.  I have always planned to come back to
start work on VFS 3 that will integrate with Java 7's java.nio.file support.

For the former I need to implement some atomicity and concurrency (for the content). And for
the later some questions around injecting the datasource and having additional fs operations
come to mind.
