The board never said we needed to or should *remove* them, they just said usage was "discouraged." Since the time of that note, we have not added any, to my knowledge, in Commons. The problem is what to do with those that pre-date the change in ASF "policy." Seems the right thing to do is to ask people if they are OK having their tags removed.
