Changes for 2.2 should be done with respect to the 2.2 branch. However,
we are in the process of releasing this version, so it is stabilizing.
A new tag for release candidate 3 has been created a few hours ago by
copying the state of the branch at that time to the new tag.

Apart from this technical point, I apologize but I don't remember if you
are already a commons committer. Only commons committers have write
access to the repository. This write access is obtained after some time,
see <http://www.apache.org/foundation/how-it-works.html> for more
information on the process. Are you already a committer ? If not, you
should simply post your changes in a Jira issue so current committers
can review them and commit them to the code base. Don't attach patches
to mail messages to the list, they will be stripped off.

best regards,
Luc
