Subject Getting started with Commons contributions?
Date Thu, 29 Jan 2009 18:13:53 GMT
hello all,

I'm interested in getting my feet wet with Commons (specifically, *.lang
and *.math). I use various snippets of it heavily in my development day
job and I figured this would be a good way to give a little something
back. I was planning on just poking through the JIRA and writing patches
for some easy targets, but I have a few questions:

1.) I lurked for a little bit on the mailing list, and one thing I'm
particularly interested in is the discussion about migrating Commons to
JDK 1.5. Is this an official sub-project yet? If so, is there a way to
sign up for that?

2.) Can someone point me to a document that highlights the targets for
the 3.0 release (if that exists), or maybe briefly explain what's going
into v3? It's difficult for me to understand the thematic thrust of 3.0
just by doing JIRA queries and seeing the open issues.

3.) Finally, does Commons (or its associated subprojects) have an IRC
channel where I could mosey over to and talk with other active
contributors?

Thanks for your help!

~ jf
