Interesting. I've tested it with the same version of Java, but on
WinXP, and have not seen the same error.

How many CPUs does the system have?

Indeed.

I raised JIRA NET-213 to record the bug you reported.

Do you see any problem with always using the default platform encoding
when converting the line ending string to bytes? This would be an easy
fix, but there's no point in doing it if the encoding is significant.
