I'm getting the same problem when running on:

CentOS 4
uname -a returns:Linux horae 2.6.9-11.106.unsupportedsmp #1 SMP Wed Jun 8
22:05:04 CDT 2005 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

Here's the log messages my program printed out indicating ftp connection
status/type:

I set my client to passive mode.
