Well, the Gump dependancy is done by:
  $ svn co
  $ cd metadata/project
  $ vi jakarta-commons.xml # s/junit3/junit
  $ svn ci

If you want to check in build.xml (so it's no longer the pure Maven one), 
then you could test for the availability of (since that's what's 
not being found at the moment), and not run the tests if it's not there.
