           Summary: XPath 2.0
           Product: Commons
           Version: 1.2 Final
          Platform: All
        OS/Version: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: JXPath
        AssignedTo: commons-dev@jakarta.apache.org
        ReportedBy: elharo@metalab.unc.edu

Should JXPath support XPath 2.0? Anyone have time to do this? XPath 2.0 is a
huge but perhaps worthwhile undertaking. However, it is a very different
language than XPath 1. They are not compatible. If JXPath does support XPath 2,
this should be on a different branch than XPath 1, and XPath 1 should not be
abandoned. It is still quite useful for many tasks.

I'm just opening this bug to collect discussions about this in one place.
