If I understand correctly, then given this input: 

<parent>
<test xmlns="http://test">
<child-element />

and this jxpath calls:

context.setDefaultNamespaceIgnored(true)
context.getValue("/parent/test/child-element")

we got <child-element/> as the result, then it solves our problem in forrest.
