borrowObject() fixes and unit tests

With this patch
TestStackObjectPool.testBorrowReturnWithSometimesInvalidObjects() fails. I
think this test is broken or at least it shouldn't have the
assertEquals(3,pool.getNumIdle()); at the end. Best case this test was intended
to check for unexpected exceptions and the assertEquals isn't needed or worst
case the test incorrectly asserts that broken behavior is valid. Please let me
know if I misunderstood it's intent.
