Okay, I've tried it on my RHEL 3.4 environment, sorry, don't have Fedora.  As
expected, it works there.

OK, so what is it about your environment?

Can you send a full java version, just run 
java -version 
and send the output.

Just a thought.  Did you build commons-net from scratch in your jdk 1.5
environment or did you just download the binary?  I don't know if that would
make a difference but I suppose it's possible?

You snet me the full OS of the server, but that isn't really relevant.  FTP
pretty well sits on top of the OS and doesn't care what OS is talking to it.
One thing you might want to consider is using the jpackage.org system for java,
but that mught take you awhile.

Does anyone else have any ideas here?
